As we move into the New
Year it is necessary as a nation that we look in the mirror and see what we can
do about gun control. Obviously,
the devastation that happened a few weeks ago in Newton, Connecticut was
absolutely horrible. But can we
really only blame the actions of the young man who took the lives of many
children and adults for what occurred?
Of course, to an extent we can blame him, but also as a nation I believe
we are at fault. It is clear that
we need to check the current system of weapon distribution in our country, so
as an advisor to the president I would bring forth the question, do people
really need assault rifles in their homes? This is especially frightening if there is easy access for
children and young adults to use these weapons in potentially tragic ways. Ultimately, no one should be able to have
access to simple assault rifles, as it has caused way too many problems.
